AST 2024: Sechs Talente im Fokus

Die ersten drei Turniertage des Albert Schweitzer Turnier 2024 in Mannheim/Viernheim sind gespielt. Genug Zeit für uns um auf sechs Spieler zu schauen, die bereits in der Frühphase des Turniers abliefern konnten.

The first three matchdays of the Albert Schweitzer Tournament 2024 in Mannheim/Viernheim are in the books. Enough time for us to take a closer look at six players who have already delivered in the early stages of the tournament.

Roman Siulepa – Australia

Der bullige Forward machte nicht nur aufgrund seiner Statur auf sich aufmerksam sondern war mit 17,7 Punkten und 4,7 Rebounds wichtiger Bestandteil der drei Siege Australiens. Mit elf Würfen pro Partie nimmt Siulepa die meisten seiner Mannschaft und trifft bislang 57,6% aus dem Feld. Eine große Stärke des 1,96 m großen Flügelspieler ist der Drive zum Korb, mit dem er unter anderem bislang die meisten Freiwürfe aller Spieler generiert (9).

Ahmet Abouelela – Egypt

Nach dem Auftaktsieg über die deutsche U17 zog Ägypten zweimal den Kürzeren. Abouelelas Leistungen litten darunter allerdings kaum. Im Schnitt stehen dem Ägypter 17,3 Punkte und sechs Rebounds zu Buche. Dazu trifft der Forward, der bislang sowohl startete als auch von der Bank kam, bei neun Versuchen (Topwert) 48,1% seiner Dreier. Gegen Serbien netzte Abouelela 8/16 und stand damit für ein Drittel, der ägyptischen Würfe von draußen.

Besonders offensiv kommen die Osteuropäer mit über 20 Boards auf einen absoluten Spitzenwert. Sojic liefert zudem den zweitbesten Effizienzwert (24.3) und trifft knapp 68% aus dem Feld. Gegen Ägypten gelangen dem 2,02 m Big-Man 26 Punkte und 18 Rebounds.

Particularly on the offenisve side the Serbians have been strong, grabbing over 20 boards. Sojic has also the second-best efficiency rating (24.3) and shoots almost 68% from the field. The 2.02 m big man scored 26 points and grabbed 18 rebounds against Egypt.

Christian Anderson – Germany

Die Figur des AST bislang. Der deutsche Guard führt die Statistiken bei Punkten (23) und Assists (6) und sichert dazu 4,3 Rebounds. Dazu die drittbeste Effizienz (22.0) und den punktetechnischen Bestwert mit 31 Zählern im ersten Gruppenspiel. Mit seinem Tempo und Ballkontrolle war Anderson bislang von keiner Defensivreihe einzufangen.

Mit 15 Punkten und zwei Rebounds im Schnitt, ist er die wichtigste Option von der Bank und kann wie beim Sieg gegen Deutschland (18 PKT) Spiele in wenigen Minuten an sich reißen. Neben 37,5% Dreierquote verfügt der 2,01 m große Airhienbuwa auch über defensive Qualitäten.

Mit drei Siegen starteten die Griechen furios ins Turnier. Neben ihren spielerischen Qualitäten wussten die Griechen bislang vor allem mit Herz und Leidenschaft zu überzeugen. Stellvertretend dafür steht Pagonis, der mit seiner Energie entscheidend für das griechische Konstrukt ist. 13,7 Punkte und 7,7 Rebounds lauten seine bisherige Ausbeute. Dazu knapp 70% Trefferquote bei Zweiern und eine Effizienz von 16.3. Mit seiner Länge auch immer ein Kandidat für Double-Doubles.
