English version
Australia kept a clean sheet at the 29th Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Mannheim and Viernheim. Against Japan the „Aussies“ won 85:56 (15:12, 25:19, 23:10, 22:15). Best scorer for the winner was Hunter Goodrick (17 Points). The beginning of the game was extremely slow (4:4, 5). As Samson Froling dunked the ball to a 6:4 lead for the Australians, this should be a kind of wake-up call. But the favourite team could hardly stop the playful Japanese in their actions. After the first quarter the „kangaroos“ tried to increase the pressure, but Japan played very well under the eyes of their general secretary Michihiro Tanaka. Then Australia scored seven unanswered points to make it 40:31 at halftime.
After the break Australia extendet the lead continuously. But nevertheless Japan played much better than the day before vs Germany and sold oneself well for long periods. After three quarters the game was decided anyway (63:41). The team with the longest journey simmers now with excitement to the game vs Germany on Wednesday (20.00).
