Der Titelverteidiger ist auch nach seinem zweiten Spiel des 29. Albert Schweitzer Turnieres in Mannheim und Viernheim ungeschlagen. Nach dem knappen 86:85-Erfolg gegen Israel setzte sich die Mannschaft von Bundestrainer Alan Ibrahimagic heute gegen Japan durch. 113:48 (29:8, 37:13, 26:16, 21:11) hieß es am Ende der völlig einseitigen Partie, in der Joshua Obiesie die meisten Punkte für Deutschland beisteuerte (16). Morgen trifft Deutschland im Turnier-Klassiker um 19.30 Uhr auf die Türkei (GBG Halle, Mannheim).

Exakt so, wie man gegen Japan spielen muss, traten die ING-DiBa-Korbjäger auf: Voll konzentriert von der ersten Sekunde an machten sie klar, wer das Spiel bestimmen würde. Ganz schnell stellte die DBB-Auswahl die Weichen auf klaren Erfolg und ließ während der gesamten ersten Hälfte keinen Deut nach. Man hielt das Tempo der Partie selber extrem hoch und ließ den Asiaten weder Raum noch Luft zum Atmen. Gegen Ende des ersten Viertels netzte Joshua Obiesie drei Dreier in kurzer Folge, die Begegnung war früh entschieden (29:8).

Das veranlasste das DBB-Team aber nicht dazu nachzulassen und dem Gegner mehr als unbedingt nötig zu gestatten. Im Gegenteil, die Ibrahimagic-Truppe brannte ein wahres Offensiv-Feuerwerk ab und war defensiv fast immer hellwach. Über 38:8 und 45:13 ging es zum 66:21-Halbzeitstand, der per „buzzer beater“ von Luc van Slooten von der Mittellinie zustande kam. Die etwa 800 Zuschauer dankten die unermüdlichen Aktionen der Deutschen mit großem Beifall, während einem die Japaner schon etwas leidtun konnten.

Die Geschichte der zweiten Halbzeit ist schnell erzählt. Ibrahimagic gab all seinen Spielern ausreichend Zeit auf dem Parkett und die deutsche Mannschaft blieb in einem guten Rhythmus. Zwar ließ man es offensiv zunächst etwas „ruhiger“ angehen, aber die Defensive ließ auch weiterhin nichts zu und blieb aufmerksam. Die Deutschen sparten auch weiterhin nicht mit spektakulären Aktionen (78:26, 27.) und am Ende des dritten Viertels durfte man sich fragen, wer den 100. Punkt erzielen würde (92:37). Es war dann Jonas Mattisseck, der nach 34 Minuten einen Freiwurf zum 100:41 traf.

The title holder stays undefeated after his second game at this year´s Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Mannheim and Viernheim. After the 86:85 win vs Israel yesterday the team of headcoach Alan Ibrahimagic today overran Japan: 113:48 (29:8, 37:13, 26:16, 21:11). Joshua Obiesie scored the most points for Germany (16): Tomorrow Germany will face Turkey in the „tournament classic“ (19.30 Uhr, GBG Halle).

Just as you have to play against Japan, the ING DiBa players performed: with full concentration from the very first second they straightened out who would determine the game. Very quickly the DBB selection set the course for a clear success and did not diminish during the entire first half. Germany kept the pace of the game itself extremely high and left the Asians neither space nor air to breathe. Towards the end of the first quarter, Joshua Obiesie netted three threes in a row, the match has been decided early (29:8).

However, this did not cause the DBB team to let up and allow the opponent more than absolutely necessary. On the contrary, the Ibrahimagic squad burned off a real offensive fireworks and was defensively almost always wide awake. Luc van Slooten scored the 66:21 at halftime with a buzzer beater from the middle line. The approximately 800 spectators thanked the tireless actions of the Germans with great applause.

The story of the second half is told quickly. Ibrahimagic gave all his players sufficient time on the floor and the German team remained in a good rhythm. The Germans still did not save with spectacular actions (78:26, 27.) and at the end of the third quarter one could ask, who would score the 100th point (92:37). It was Jonas Mattisseck who made a free throw for 100:41 after 34 minutes.
