Frankreich hat auch sein zweites Spiel beim AST 2016 gewonnen. Gegen das Team aus Ägypten gab es einen ungefährdeten 76:52-Sieg. Topscorer der Partie war der Ägypter Seifeldin Elsanadily mit 21 Punkten (16 Rebounds).

Nach dem eindrucksvollen Sieg gegen die US-Auswahl galt Frankreich zwangsläufig als eines der Teams, das sich gute Chancen auf den Titelgewinn beim diesjährigen AST ausrechnen konnte. Ein knappes Spiel war also nicht unbedingt zu erwarten gegen die Ägypter, die ihr Auftaktspiel mit 30 Punkten verloren hatten. Dennoch hielten die Ägypter in den ersten Minuten sehr gut mit (6:6). Obwohl Seifeldin Elsanadily sieben Punkte im ersten Viertel erzielte, konnte Frankreich sich letztendlich doch auf 17:11 absetzen.

Ägypten geriet früh im zweiten Viertel zweistellig in Rückstand. Thibault Desseignet und Meven le Douarin übernahmen bei Frankreich das Ruder, beim Gang in die Kabinen war die Führung auf 37:20 angewachsen. Ägypten verkürzte noch einmal auf elf Punkte (41:30), mehr gelang den Afrikanern allerdings nicht, obwohl sich das Team gegenüber dem Vortag verbessert zeigte. Ein 12:0-Lauf Frankreichs sorgte für die frühe Entscheidung (58:32).

Omar Farag und Youssef Abdragou erzielten einige Punkte für Ägypten im letzten Viertel, aber Frankreich – allen voran Topscorer Bathiste Tchouaffe ließen ihnen keine Chance mehr zu verkürzen.

France defeated Egypt at day two of the Albert-Schweitzer Tournament in Viernheim. The French team won 76:52. Egypt’s Seifeldin Elsanadily made 21 points and 16 rebounds.

After the impressive win in against the US team, France was one of the teams with the best chances to win this year’s Albert-Schweitzer-Tournament. So a close game was not expected against the Egyptians, who had lost their first game by 30 points. Anyway, in the first minutes Egypt did a good job competing with France (6:6). Although Seifeldin Elsanadily scored 7 points in the first quarter, France could now set themselves apart, 17:11.

Early in the second stretch, Egypt fell behind by double digits. Thibault Desseignet and Meven le Douarin scored for France, heading into the third quarter the lead was 37:20.  Egypt closed in to a 11-point deficit (41:30), but more was not possible, although the team had improved compared to the first game. A 12:0 boost of France brought the early decision in the match (58:32).

Omar Farag and Youssef Abdragou scored for Egypt in the last quarter, but France and its topscorer Bathiste Tchouaffe did not let them a chance to close in.
